Malaysian comedian Nigel Ng, better known by his viral online persona Uncle Roger, has announced that he and his wife, lawyer Sabrina Ahmed, are expecting their first child.
The joyful news was shared on Friday, 20th February 2026, via Ng’s Instagram account. The post also served as a festive greeting for Lunar New Year and the start of Ramadan, coinciding with the fourth day of the Lunar New Year celebrations.
In the caption, Ng wrote: “new nephew coming soon! happy Lunar New Year and Ramadan Mubarak”
Nigel Ng humorously extended his character’s habit of calling fans “nieces and nephews” to his own baby with the phrase “new nephew coming soon.”
The announcement included photos of Ng and Ahmed in festive Chinese outfits, smiling warmly. One image showed Ng gently resting his hand on his wife’s pregnant belly, while another displayed a sonogram of the baby.
The post quickly drew widespread attention, attracting thousands of congratulatory messages from fans worldwide. International celebrities, including renowned chef Gordon Ramsay, also sent their well-wishes.
Ng, 34, rose to global fame in 2020 with a humorous critique of a BBC Food egg fried rice tutorial. His alter ego, Uncle Roger—a middle-aged Malaysian uncle figure in an orange polo shirt—became a cultural phenomenon with catchphrases like “haiyaa” and “fuiyoh.” The character has amassed millions of followers across social media platforms.
Beyond comedy, Ng has launched a Malaysian restaurant chain, Fuiyoh! It’s Uncle Roger, toured internationally with stand-up shows, and released a comedy special on Hulu.
Ng met Sabrina Ahmed, an American-born lawyer of Bengali descent, when she attended one of his performances. At the time, she was working as corporate counsel for a luxury resort real estate developer that had booked Ng for an event.
The couple later connected on a dating app and met in person at Boston Airport. By March 2023, Ng realised he loved her and wanted to spend his life with her. Ng proposed in Tokyo in 2024, and they announced their engagement with a photoshoot in the vibrant food markets of Taipei, Taiwan.
They married on 19th July 2025 in a lavish three-day celebration in Sintra, Portugal. The wedding blended Malaysian, Chinese, and Bengali traditions, including a sangeet and a Chinese tea ceremony. Vogue magazine attended and highlighted the multicultural festivities.
The pregnancy announcement comes about seven months after their wedding. Fans have flooded social media with support, eager to see Uncle Roger embrace fatherhood. No further details about the pregnancy, including the due date or the baby’s gender beyond the playful “nephew” reference, have been shared.
